Google I/O and Game Design
This week is a special week at Code Club. Not only do we go into a different mode over the TT period, but we’re also hosting Google I/O Extended on Thursday and Friday evening. How’s that for a fun-packed week!
First of all, let’s talk about what’s happening over TT. With many people involved around the island with all the racing, hosting and associated business, we’re suspending our regular classes for the next 2 weeks. We’re still going to be open, so if you’re not affected by road closures or the racing please pop in; we still have things for you to do. In particular, this Saturday we have a special session devoted to Game Design. We have a special presentation by Friedrich Brilling who studied game design in Berlin at the Games Academy and works for Fog Media Ltd in Sunderland as Game Developer. He’s going to give an overview about what’s involved in creating games and share his experiences in working in the game industry and using Unity as a platform. With Code Club opening at 4:00pm, we’re looking to start this talk at 4:15, so come early to get a seat!
And what is Google I/O I hear you ask? Well, it’s an annual conference that Google run in San Francisco to show off their latest technology, changes to platforms and innovation in Android and other spaces. We’ll be streaming this live on Thursday and Friday evening between 5:00pm and 1:00am at The Forum. Entrance is free and we even have food and coffee kindly sponsored by MICTA to keep us going through the evening. More information on the Google I/O Extended Isle of Man Edition page. Google I/O is open to everyone, but if you’re under 16 please bring a parent along as there won’t really be any supervision for minors.
So, lots on this week. Hope to see you there!
