New Scratch Season, Cybersecurity and lots more

Everyone’s back from the Summer holidays and getting ready for the next scholastic year, so we though it would be a good time to organise a new Scratch class. This is a beginner’s class, starting Saturday 8th September at 16:00, aimed at 8 to 12 year olds who have never coded before and are looking for a fun way to start learning. If you’re interested in joining us or have a child you’d like to sing up, please head down to CoderDojo and sign up: https://zen.coderdojo.com/dojos/im/douglas/douglas-iom-steam-lab

We’re also getting ready for this year’s edition of CyberCenturion, a cybersecurity competition for 12-18 year olds with an interest in cyber, defence, puzzles and code breaking. We’ve taken part in this contest over the last few years and have always managed to produce a decent result. It’s been fun, engaging and educational for everyone who took part. If you’re interested in finding out more and joining us, please drop me a line at owen@codeclub.im

We also have a number of activities that older tech enthusiasts can enjoy. From 3D printers to Arduino kits, we have a number of projects investigating IOT, Robotics and Machine Learning we can help you get started with. So if you’re an adult looking for something new or a tech geek looking for company, come and join us for a fun-filled Saturday afternoon.

One other piece of news: Our friends down at Love Tech are running an ‘Introduction to Twine’ course, aimed at girls aged 12-18, where coding basics will be used for building an interactive story which can be published online or shared with friends and family.
