A helping of Java and Pi

We’re continuing with our Raspberry Pi exploration sessions this Saturday between 4:00pm and 6:00pm, and we’re opened up a few more places for this session. We have 6 Raspberry Pi stations for people to use, but as we had some no-shows last week, we’ve decided to open a few more places on the basis that people can pair up if we have more than six students. Please do your best to attend if you have booked into a particular session. Our volunteers give up their time to run these sessions and we always have a waiting list of additional students. If you’re still interested in joining the Raspberry Pi sessions, head to Coderdojo and Join our Dojo.

This Saturday at 6:00pm we’re also running our final Java lesson in our ‘Intro to OOP using Java’ class. We’ve had some great feedback from the students attending this class and if there’s more interest in Java we may run more sessions in the future.

A reminder that the STEAM Lab Twilight Tech session will by running at 6:00pm on Wednesday. This is an after-work meetup for technology enthusiasts, where topics like machine learning, cybersecurity and cryptocurrency are common topics of discussion. Drop in and say hello, share your experiences and get answers from on-island experts in their field.

That’s all for this week. I’d like to close off with a sincere word of thanks for those who have purchased supplies for us from our Amazon Wishlist. If you can help us continue our great work, please check this out. Donations are always welcome.
